Elliott Cohn- Guitar & Vocals: see full biography here.
Kenny Green- Bass: "The Master Of The Low Note"!!!! Longtime bass player, songwriting collaborater, best friend, and Partner In FUNK of Elliott. They have played Jazzfest together for 2 years, as well as The House Of Blues - sharing the stage with War, KC and The Sunshine Band, Los Lobos and others. Kenny has established himself in New Orleans jamming at The Maple Leaf, The Funky Butt, Bank Street, and more. His "slap happy" style holds the groove together for musician and fan alike!
The Cosmic Sweat Society has a slew of various artists that will be joining them for various shows and recordings. The current full-time lineup is mentioned above, the artists mentioned below are not full time members of the Cosmic Sweat Society and may or may not be at any given show:
Drums: "Mean" Willie Green- What more can be said about this amazing musician that hasn't already been said over the course of his long-standing music career. With a recording and tour history that few can match, Willie has played with such acts as Bob Dylan, Neville Brothers, Uptown Allstars, New Orleans Klezmer Allstars, and Galactic..just to name a few. Currently working on a solo project, Willie spends alot of time in the studio and on the stage with all of New Orleans top artists. When Willie saw Elliott on stage soon after moving to NOLA, they immediately met and became close friends, Sitting in on numerous recording sessions and various gigs.
Mike Burkart-Keys: Having played with the Reggae band the Revealers for years not to mention the nightly performances with some of NOLA's finest musicians, Mike brings excellent solo's, vocals, and pure energy to the sound of any tune.
Shamar Allen-Trumpet/Vocals:
Jeff Watkins-Alto Saxophone: Once claimed to be the "Ninth wonder of the world" from the Legendary James Brown himself, Jeff has been touring the world as the lead sax-man for the James Brown Band for the past several years. Jeff recently moved to NOLA where he met up with Elliott and began sitting in on recording sessions and where they eventually became close friends. Jeff's also working on a new solo project amongst a full time schedule of playing with various artists nightly in the NOLA area and the latest venture sitting in with Juice on a run of opening dates for Widespread Panic in April '05. When Jeff sits in with the CSS, the band reaches a new level with brilliant improvisational solo's shared between the guitar, bass, and sax.
Adam Matasar – Keys: Adam has been playing the piano for as long as he can remember. While being raised in Chicago, Adam did not just play music, he also studied music. Upon coming to New Orleans, he joined popular local band Dimorphodon for a two year run. Meanwhile he attended music school where he achieved an even greater understanding of the academic side of music. His superior understanding of all things harmonious is why Adam has earned the nickname “The Professor”.
Past Performers
Big Sammie Williams- Trombone: One big man with an impeccable urban fashion sense, who blows the funk out of his trombone and refuses to let the audience sit still. Imagine a linebacker that can dance like James Brown while funk'n out a serious solo on the trombone, the energy he creates is unexplainable. Sam's extremely busy fronting last years Top New Orleans Funk band "Big Sams Funky Nation" but he did find the time to come out and join the Cosmic Sweat Society for either recording sessions or live performances in NOLA. Be sure to check out the funky nation and if your lucky enough to catch Big Sam with CSS on stage, hold on for a serious funk assault that will make you sweat!!!
